In MemoryThe Bridge at Ginger Creek club in Champaign recently lost two of its good friends and most popular players. Jack Sanders, 85, died on May 25 after heart surgery. A Navy veteran, Jack worked for Marshall Fields and owned a White Hen Pantry in Chicago before retiring and moving to Champaign to be near his family. He and his late wife Marilyn had five children, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many foster children.
Jack was a sweet, happy and generous man who had many partners at the club. He
will be deeply missed. Carroll Drablos, 80, died on June 6. He served in the U.S. Air Force and had a long career as professor of agricultural engineering at the University of Illinois. He was a specialist in soil drainage and won many awards for his research and service to conservation agencies.
Carroll and Arlene, his wife of almost 58 years, grew up in North Dakota and
have two sons and six grandchildren. Both Life Masters, they were a successful
partnership in bridge and life. We'll all miss Carroll's sense of humor and
friendly personality. Movin' Up: Congratulations to these Unit members who recently advanced in rank:
