When
they're winning, people rarely say "It's only a game."
Alan Popkin wins first place in the Unit 143 Player of the Year contest.
The Unit 143 Player Of The Year (POTY) is awarded to that unit member in good standing who has won the most masterpoints in unrestricted Unit-sponsored events (12 Unit games, 3 sectionals, 1 Regional, and the Braggin' Rights Team game), by finishing first, second, or third in the overalls. This reflects loyalty and dedication to the Unit and, of course, a great deal of skill.
Ed Schultz, Susan Perez and
Tom Kniest were 2nd, 3rd & 4th respectively, with only 6.77 masterpoints
separating 1st from 4th.
We play for amusement and for edification. We play for the adrenalin surge, the exhilaration of making an "impossible" contract. We play for the pride of executing an exquisite play after a brilliant auction. We play for defending perfectly. And we play for Master Points.
