Fall Sectional Results

It’s especially gratifying when participants reach a masterpoint milestone during a tournament. And nothing quite matches the Life Master milestone. At the Fall Sectional, Marcia Ridley (left photo) from the Unit 143 Rolla MO club and Susan Soha (right) from our Columbia MO sister Unit 131 became Life Masters. It was fun to share the moment with them.

St. Louis Bridge Center Bridge Builder Awards

On October 3, 2017, over 100 players turned out to honor recipients of the first Canfield Bridge Builder Award, Debb Keniley and John Antognoli (shown receiving award from Center Board President Ann Lemp). 

The award is named for Bill Canfield, founder of St. Louis Bridge Center Club. It serves to recognize club members who work to balance respect for the game and for other players with the competitive spirit of duplicate bridge.

Here are the criteria for nomination:

·       Deals honestly with opponents at all times

·       Invests the time and energy necessary to improve play

·       Conducts oneself with dignity and decorum

·       Inspires others to act nobly and professionally

·       Encourages others to learn the game

As Ann Lemp noted, “A wonderful effect of this award was to increase the civility and camaraderie of the players because, during and after the nomination process, while players looked for positive attributes in others, they also reflected on how they would be viewed as a potential nominee.”
