By the time you read this, St. Louis Gateway to the West Regional will be underway. If you were able to join us, we hope you had fun and earned some masterpoints. Many players reach a masterpoint milestone during this event. If you are one, congratulations! 

Upcoming Events

St. Louis Unit 143 will host its Fall Sectional in St. Charles, Mo October 19 – 21, 2018.  As always, you can expect friendly competition and outstanding hospitality.  Click HERE for the tournament flyer with event details and partnership information.

Longest Day 2018

Three Unit 143 bridge clubs participated in the Longest Day, making 2018 the most successful year ever. 

The participating clubs were Bridge Haven, J’s Bridge Pad, and St. Louis Bridge Center. 

Kudos to the St. Louis Bridge Center’s Longest Day’s co-chairs, Jane Ettelson and Linda Powers, and to their committee members Betty Nenninger, Debbie Hellman, Mary Volmert, and Vickie Stringer. This club alone raised over $71,000 from bridge games, raffles, silent auctions and donations. 
 

Phillip Alder Workshop

Another successful June event hosted by the St. Louis Bridge Center was the Phillip Alder workshop. Mr. Alder is a renowned educator, former NY Times bridge columnist, and current monthly contributor to the ACBL Bridge Bulletin.

At left is a picture of attendees being entertained and educated as Alder covered (1) How to defeat more contracts; (2) Make your pre-empts effective and theirs ineffective; and (3) Double your bridge fun with doubles.
