Congratulations . . .

To our University of Illinois bridge team, who placed fourth in the National Collegiate Championships in Las Vegas. Team members were Peter Yeh, Shaoning Zhang, Kenneth Koh and Jieyang Xu, all from Champaign-Urbana.

To Alex and John Maloney, who were the winners of the 35th annual Art Webber Pairs charity championship at Bridge at Ginger Creek in Champaign. This is the first grandfather-grandson team to win the trophy and Alex, age 16, is the youngest winner ever. Alex learned to play bridge from his dad, Brian, and grandfather, John, and picked up more experience at Youth Bridge Camp. He and John recently participated in ACBL's teacher accreditation seminar and are now certified bridge teachers.

To former Unit member Chip Martel, who grew up in Urbana IL, for his induction into the Bridge Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held at the Las Vegas NABC in July.
