Because of Covid-19, the Board of Unit 223 has not met in awhile.  The following is a message from Paul Hartke, the board president to the board members.  I think it may be interesting for everyone to read what he has to say. 

Some clubs are starting to open for face-to-face bridge. It will be interesting to see how the attendance will be! 

In regard to our Regional in 2022, Crystal Lake IL has lost their playing site and consequently may not have a regional next June. I have asked District 8 if we could have our regional in June rather than September. So far, Crystal Lake has not cancelled. I will keep you informed.

Bridge Consortium Update

Although some bridge clubs are entertaining the idea of meeting in person, the Central & Southern Illinois Bridge Consortium will still keep to its regular virtual bridge schedule.

Games that players may not know about are the 199er (11:50 am) and 999er (12:10 pm) pair games held on the 2nd and 4th Fridays. Also, there is a 499er game held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 6:30 pm. 

Swiss Teams are relatively new and have been a huge success.  It’s a fun way to play! Upcoming team events, all with upgraded masterpoint awards, are:

    ♥ Charity Week:  Friday, April 16 -- 499er at 6:30 pm, Open at 6:50 pm

    ♥ Grassroots Weekend:  Sunday, May 16 -- 499er at 6:30 pm, Open at 6:50 pm

    ♥ Silver Linings Week (silver points): Friday, May 28 -- 499er at 6:30 pm, Open at 6:50 pm

The club also offers free learning opportunities on Zoom. Lori Moore hosts lessons on Mondays and tuesdays and Karen Walker has a free teaching table on Monday evenings.
