A Bridge Excursion

My good friend, Sue Davis, and I made the trek down to the Tunica Regional this year. We went planning to have a relaxed trip, looking to have a good time, and with an agreement to play no more than two sessions a day with time off to do something besides play bridge every day. We did gamble a little (I won a stupendous $25), checked out the pool at Sam's Town, went out for dinner at the World Famous Hollywood Cafe (one of John Grisham's favorites in times past), and on Wednesday we drove up to Horn Lake MS (a short trip from either Memphis or the tournament) and looked at the new ACBL Headquarters and Museum.

I had been told that the staff at headquarters was welcoming and hospitable and that is more than true. The new building is really attractive, and the Museum is (no kidding!) fascinating and well worth visiting.

The trophies on display are gorgeous and many evoke names of major events at NABCs. You will love the trump counters donated by Joan Schepps; they are just plain good fun! Taking it all in, including the memorabilia and audio-visual displays, will easily take an interesting couple of hours. By all means, go see it all the first chance you get.
