Unit 208 Goodwill Award Winners

Congratulations to Judy and Ron Greek of Galesburg, who were awarded the Unit Goodwill pins.

When Ron and Judy moved to Galesburg, the local duplicate club had closed and the community had not hosted a tournament in years. They recruited friends, party-bridge players and others to form a weekly game and they've been serving as directors and club managers ever since.

Judy serves as Area 2 representative on the Unit 208 Board and Ron is the alternate. 

Ron and Judy have also worked to bring sectionals back to Galesburg, and have hosted three in the past three years. The 2015 sectional is coming up on June 12-14 at the Carl Sandburg Mall. Schedule is here.
 

In Memory

Dan Arendell, 72, of Belleville died on February 18. Originally from Chicago, Dan lived in Peoria for many years and was active in local bridge clubs and tournaments. He was a Life Master with more than 630 masterpoints.

Dan moved to Belleville in 1976 and started and managed a successful real-estate business. Besides bridge, he loved to play golf and travel and was a volunteer with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois.  

Our condolences go out to his family -- Betty, his wife of 51 years, and their two sons and nine grandchildren -- and to all of Dan's friends in Central Illinois.
