New Life Master

Bob Larson has lived most of his life in Rockford, Illinois. As graduate of Harlem High School in Rockford, Bob serviced five years in the U.S Air Force.  After his military experience, Bob proceeded to earn a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois. Bob and his wife Judy have two children, Jeff and Becky, and six grandchildren.  Applying his knowledge learned at the U.of I., Bob, for most his years of employment, worked for Ingersoll Corporation in Rockford.

Bob blamed the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 as to reason he started to take up bridge. As a member of the Air Force stationed in Great Falls, Montana, his unit was put on eighteen-hour alerts during the Crisis.  With time on their hands, Bob and his fellow service men decided to learn bridge while they were guarding our country.

With his obligation to family and career, Bob didn’t start playing bridge seriously until six years ago.  In 2007, Bob joined the Rockford Bridge Club, had Arlene Snap as a mentor, and started earning points towards becoming a Life Master. Many of Bob’s point were earned on the Internet and also playing with his partner Kathy Wright at the Rockford Club.  Needing six gold points, Bob and Kathy earned eight at the recent St. Louise Regional to earn the required 25 gold points to become a Life Master.

Bob’s advice to us is to play a lot and enjoy the game. In becoming a Life Master Bob said he really enjoys the people he has met and that the Rockford has a great club. When Bob is not bidding slams he is slamming golf balls, his other passion. Congratulations Bob on earning the title of Life Master.
