District 8 bridge players are saddened by the loss of Bob Carteaux, 78, who passed away on on April 15 his home in Fort Wayne IN, surrounded by his family.

Bob was the first District 8 player to attain the rank of Grand Life Master, which requires 10,000 masterpoints and a North American championship. He won his championship in the Senior Knockout Teams at the St. Louis NABC in 1997.

Bob was a tireless volunteer and promoter of the game he loved. He served on the national Goodwill and Charity committees and was a past president of District 8. He also held many offices on his Unit Board and chaired the annual Fort Wayne IN Regional for more than two decades. He was also an active leader in community, church and charity organizations in Fort Wayne.

Before taking up bridge, Bob was a championship bowler who was inducted into the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. For 23 years, he held the record for highest left-handed series.
