BRONZE LIFE MASTER . . . a forty-month journey

On April 7, 2009 Dave Bigler of Hobart attained the status of Bronze Life Master. This achievement comes less than ten months after being awarded his Life Master — such a short period of time and so many masterpoints! Dave admits that his quest for Bronze has been somewhat intense, as evidenced by his spectacularly high finish in the ACBL rankings. With more than 60 gold and 140 silver and red points he thinks that it’s time to "mellow" just a little.

Lou Nimnicht considers Dave the most pleasant person in the whole room. “He has the ability to work things out, which is a complex process — he analyzes every nuance. "

Chuck Briggs is Dave’s most frequent partner. He says, “We’ve always been able to communicate well. If there ever is a problem, Dave wants to spend time afterward to work things out toward an understanding. Dave has the desire to improve and wants to learn all that he can.”

BRONZE LIFE MASTER . . . an advocate for the game

In less than a year and a half since Pat Valiska of Highland had been awarded a Life Master, she has advanced to the rank of Bronze Life Master — attesting to the fact that she has become a devotee of this fascinating game.

Norm Szewczyk talks about Pat:  “Pat is willing to learn new things and is very easy to play with — not moody ‘like some bridge players’. She has excellent table manners. She is always a pleasure to play with because of her attitude and her even temperament. She shows consistent improvement.

“She is the club manager at South Suburban Bridge Club and is always taking on extra responsibilities.  he donates her time and energy toward the improvement of the game in any way she can and toward the overall camaraderie of the club membership.”
