Fortune only smiles on the brave.
She positively beams on the skillful, versed in the technique of wooing her.
For to be lucky is an art which can be mastered like any other.”

From Card Play Technique by Victor Mollo and Nico Gardener

2013 Player of the Year

Jack Bryant is an example of one who has mastered the art of being lucky.

After receiving the Unit 143 Lifetime Achievement Award in October, Jack Bryant was once again called to the podium at the January sectional. This time President Debra Romero presented Jack with the Unit 143 Ed Schultz Player of the Year Award.

Congratulations, Jack!

ACBL Charity Committee

Congratulations to Unit 143 members Chuck Starovasnik and Barbara Reid on their appointment to the ACBL Charity Committee.

This lifetime appointment recognizes the commitment of Chuck and Barbara to charitable events at St. Louis’ Bridge Haven Club. In addition to charity games held throughout the year at Bridge Haven, Chuck and Barbara organize the yearly Pro-Am tournament, which in 2013 raised over $7000 for Backstoppers, an organization that aids families of St. Louis police, firefighters, and emergency personnel killed in the line of duty.
