Getting well at the bridge table

Sara Rhoades of Seymour IL was faced with a seven-hour chemotherapy session at Carle Hospital in Urbana IL. How to pass the time? She called three of her friends for a bridge game right in the oncology treatment center.

Sara's bridge game was featured in the "Club News" section of the December issue of the The Bridge Bulletin. In the photo, Sara (yellow shirt) is playing with Carolyn Snell of Danville IL (back to camera). Sara and Carolyn are regular players at the Bridge at Ginger Creek club in Champaign.

Their opponents are Ada Murray of Danville IL (left) and Betty White of Sandwich IL (right). Betty was Sara's first bridge teacher. Observing the competition is Dr. Ronnie Luyun, oncologist at Carle Hospital.
