Unit President's Message

As we start the new fiscal year in Unit 208, I’d like to announce some changes on our Unit Board of Directors and talk about our upcoming tournaments.

Terry Goodykoontz has been serving as an alternate to our board from the Champaign area and he has now assumed the role as Champaign-Danville area representative for a three-year term. Our thanks go out to Dennis Fitton for his many years of service to the Board.

Sandy Stults has joined us as the new Treasurer. Sandy is a resident of Springfield and we appreciate her stepping into this role. You can email Sandy at Sandra.23@ATT.net . Many thanks to Dan Punzak for serving as the Unit 208 Treasurer for over two years.

And continuing in their roles for another term are Jeff Ehrlich, Springfield and Bill Bulfer, Peoria. Jeff and Bill not only serve as area reps, but they chair the sectional tournaments in each of their areas. These tournaments are coming up shortly and will be the last tournaments in Unit 208 during 2015.

Peoria’s sectional tournament will be returning to East Peoria and will be held September 18-20. New tournament hours, special games and great nearby restaurants make this convenient location a popular tournament! A full schedule is here.

Springfield’s fall sectional will be held October 9-11 in Rochester IL. This year Unit 208 will partner with the Rochester Public Library and, with the help of local players, is reaching out to introduce first-time duplicate players to join in! We will have a separate game just for new players, so let your bridge friends know this is the chance to come and join in!
