"Smart is when you believe only half of what you hear.
Brilliant is when you know which half to believe."

Believe partner.  Trusting the opponents is certainly not designed to build confidence in partner.
You may win the board, but the long-term damage to your partnership is likely to outweigh the short-term gain.

It's the event played around the world!

The international contest sponsored by the World Bridge Federation was held in June. In the Friday contest, Tom O'Reilly-Pol and Sue Perez  finished 1st in District 8 and 5th in the USA with a 70.83% game (1456 pairs) – and 17th worldwide  (5251 pairs) with a 69.72% game. The two fields are slightly different, producing a slightly different percentage game. "We thought it was cool," said Sue.

ABA/ACBL Unity game

The ABA/ACBL Unity Game on June 29, 2009 drew 28 tables. Held at Olivette Community Center, players kept coming and coming – and eventually overflowed to two rooms. Using computer-generated hands and thus having handout records available, director Mark Ehret handled the overflow with aplomb.  ABA local unit President, Cheryl Ward, and Jennifer Luner coordinated the event.

At least twenty-three (23) local players won points at the Summer national tournament in Washington, D.C.  Final results are not yet available.

Mark Ehret currently runs a Wednesday open game at Overland Occidental Lodge in Olivette. Prior to the game on Wednesday, he usually gives a lesson regarding some aspect of bridge that he thinks will help his players with their game.

Mark, a silver life master, is also available for private lessons. Mark  has been playing since 1982 and became a director more than a decade ago. He learned bridge in college but had to give up bridge to work. Mark says that his  best memory of bridge is Fred McAvoy being his mentor.
